Requirements
- Apple silicon MacM1 or later: this version doesn't run on Intel Macs.

Already using another dictation app on the Fn key? Quit it before trying Dettami, or both will start at once.
On Mac

Open the zip and drag Dettami to Applications.
It's in your Downloads: double-click it and it becomes the Dettami app (Safari unzips it for you).

Open Dettami and grant permissions.
Microphone, to hear you, and Accessibility, to type into apps: in System Settings, switch Dettami on in the list.

Log in to your account, or create one.

Set up the voice model.
Dettami downloads the model that transcribes once (about 1.6 GB): from then on it stays on your Mac.

Optional: add a free AI key.
For AI-polished text. The easiest is Gemini, free from aistudio.google.com.
Done. Now hold Fn and speak.

On Windows

Open the installer and follow the steps.
Dettami installs just for your user, in a few seconds, and shows up in the Start menu. If Windows asks you to confirm, choose “More info” and then “Run anyway”.

Open Dettami and allow the microphone.
If Windows blocks it: Settings › Privacy & security › Microphone, and turn on access for desktop apps too.

Log in to your account, or create one.

Set up the voice model.
Dettami downloads the model that transcribes once: Parakeet, about 740 MB. From then on it stays on your PC, and your voice is transcribed there. If your PC has a graphics card, you can switch to Whisper large-v3-turbo (886 MB) in the settings: it stays on your PC too.

Optional: add a free AI key.
For AI-polished text; it's kept in Windows Credential Manager. The easiest is Gemini, free from aistudio.google.com.
