1.What stays on your computer

The most personal part of Dettami never leaves your computer. Your voice becomes text on the computer: on Apple silicon Macs with the Whisper model (as a fallback, on Macs with macOS 26, with Apple's speech recognition, which also runs on the Mac); on Intel Macs with the Parakeet model; on Windows with Parakeet, which runs there without Python, or, if your PC has a graphics card and you choose it in the settings, with Whisper large-v3-turbo (886 MB), which also runs on the PC.

Litchi does not receive:

  • the audio, which is not kept by default, on a Mac or on Windows (see below);
  • the text of your dictations and your history;
  • your personal glossary and personal snippets;
  • your AI provider keys, which live in the macOS Keychain on a Mac and in Windows Credential Manager on a PC;
  • Scratchpad notes and the Notetaker notes you don't sync;
  • detailed statistics.

We have no copy of it: we can neither see it nor recover it.

2.What goes to the AI provider you choose

An AI model can make the text cleaner and better suited to the app you are writing in. Dettami uses one only if you enter your own key for Google Gemini, Groq, Anthropic Claude or OpenAI. Then it sends text only:

  • with every dictation: the transcribed text, the app name and window title, the text near the cursor and some glossary terms;
  • with vibe coding: file and variable names too, so the AI spells them correctly;
  • with Transforms, styles and commands: the text you selected;
  • with the Notetaker: the transcript of the meeting to summarise.

How it works

  • The request goes from your computer directly to the provider, with your key and your contract. Litchi does not see that text.
  • The provider is not our sub-processor: its terms apply, and any costs, which you choose. For example, anyone using Gemini's free tier from the EU falls under Google's conditions for the European Economic Area.
  • Never the audio.

Without keys, nothing goes to the cloud: Dettami formats the text with rules that run on the computer. And in password fields nothing goes to the cloud and nothing ends up in the history.

3.What is on Litchi's servers

Dettami's servers are at Hetzner, in Germany. We keep what is needed to run accounts, teams and subscriptions:

  • account: first and last name, email, encrypted password (or the link to Google), language, referral code;
  • organisation: roles, invitations, join requests;
  • linked computers: computer name, system (Mac or Windows), app version, last use;
  • usage counts per day, computer and app category: words, dictations, seconds, corrections. Never the text.
  • glossary and snippets shared with the team;
  • meeting notes, only if you sync them: transcript, summary, participants;
  • notifications, referrals and billing details;
  • technical logs with the IP address, for security, for 30 days.

When the app checks for a new version, it sends the app version and the system: on a Mac the macOS version, on Windows the system, the processor architecture and the app language (and, like any connection, the IP address). How long we keep each item, and on what basis, is in the Privacy Policy.

4.What you control

Keep audio

Default: off, on a Mac and on Windows
If you turn it on, the audio of your dictations stays in the history, on the computer, for the number of days you choose, from 1 to 90 (14 by default), then is deleted automatically; if you turn it off, any audio already kept is deleted and the text stays. It works the same way on a Mac and on Windows.

In the app, under Settings.

AI provider and keys

Default: none
Choose a main provider and, if you like, a backup one, each with your own key. Or none: without keys nothing goes to the cloud. You can remove a key at any time.

In the app.

Vibe coding

Your choice
When you dictate code, it also sends file and variable names to the AI provider so they are spelled correctly. If you don't want them sent, keep it off.

In the app.

Weekly leaderboard

Default: you don't appear
You appear in the team leaderboard only if you choose to, and you can leave it at any time.

In the portal.

Synced meeting notes

Your choice
Notetaker notes stay on your computer until you choose to sync them. You can delete synced notes at any time.

In the app.

Calendar for the Notetaker

Default: off
If you turn it on, Dettami reads the title and guests of the meeting you're recording: on a Mac from the system calendar; on Windows from your calendar's secret address (ICS) that you paste in, which the app reads every 15 minutes straight from your calendar provider and keeps in Windows Credential Manager. The calendar stays on your computer: title and names go to the server only with the note, if you sync it.

In the app, in the Notetaker settings.

Note sharing

Default: private, unless your team chooses otherwise
Only you see a synced note, or your whole team if you share it. You can change your mind at any time.

In the app, note by note.

Public link to a note

Default: none
You create a link so people without Dettami can read the summary and transcript: anyone with the link reads the note, without the participants' emails. Turn it off at any time and it stops working.

In the app, note by note.

AI connectors

Default: none
If you connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or another MCP client, that application can read your synced notes and the ones your team shared with you, never your dictations, and processes them under its own terms. Disconnect it from the portal and it stops at once.

In the portal, under Settings › Personal.

Export and delete everything

Always

Export my data: download, as a JSON file, everything the server knows about you.

Delete account: the account and usage counts are gone. If you are the only admin of a team, appoint another admin first; if you are on your own with an active subscription, cancel it first. Invoices are kept for 10 years by law; backups are overwritten within 90 days.

In the portal, under Privacy; deletion also from the app.

5.What team admins control

If you are part of a team, the organisation's admins have these settings. They never see your dictations, audio or history: those are on your computer.

Trial for new members

Default: on
Whoever joins the team gets 14 days of trial before their seat is billed. The admin can turn it off.

Approve new members

Default: off
If turned on, people using the team's invite link don't join straight away: they send a request, which an admin approves.

Hide the leaderboard

Default: visible
The admin can hide the weekly leaderboard from the whole team. Even when it is visible, only those who choose to appear show up.

Per-person detail

Default: off
By default admins see team usage only in aggregate. If they turn on the detail, they see each person's usage counts: words, dictations, time, corrections, never the text. In Italy the company must first comply with Article 4 of the Workers' Statute and inform its employees.

Default note sharing

Default: private
The admin can make new notes start already shared with the team. Anyone can still make a single note private.

Admins also see the members and their roles, and manage invitations and the subscription.

6.No training

Dettami does not use your dictations, audio or notes to train artificial intelligence models, ours or anyone else's. We do not even receive the audio or the text of your dictations.

If you use your own AI key, what the provider does with the text depends on its terms and your plan: check them in your account with the provider.

7.Security, in short

  • Encrypted connections (TLS) between the app, the website and the servers.
  • Passwords stored with bcrypt: not even we can read them.
  • Sign-ins with tokens that expire after 8 hours, renewed with tokens that change at every use.
  • Digitally signed app licence.
  • Limited server access with cryptographic keys; secrets never in the code.
  • Encrypted backups on object storage; server data in the European Union.

8.Who helps us

To run Dettami we rely on a few providers:

  • Hetzner (Germany): servers, database and backups;
  • Cloudflare: the off-site copy of the backups, kept in the European Union;
  • Stripe (Ireland): payments;
  • Resend (United States): service emails;
  • Google: only if you choose “Sign in with Google”.

On first launch the app downloads, once, the speech model from Hugging Face and, on a Mac, the Python tools from GitHub and PyPI (Windows needs no Python): they only see your computer's IP address.

The details are in the Privacy Policy and, for organisations, in the Data Processing Addendum. If we change a sub-processor, we tell customers at least 15 days in advance.
